Big, Big, Big, Big Book #1: David Copperfield

David CopperfieldSo, I think I will be starting a new feature (see the title of this post). This is where I tackle a gigantic and forbidding classic (or non-classic) work of literature; in other words, a big, big, big, big book. Who knows how much I'll actually do this, but I'm planning twice a month. No, I don't have a meme or whatever it's called because I'm not that technologically advanced.

I'm going to start of with David Copperfield by Charles Dickens.

"David Copperfield is the story of a young man’s adventures on his journey from an unhappy and impoverished childhood to the discovery of his vocation as a successful novelist. Among the gloriously vivid cast of characters he encounters are his tyrannical stepfather, Mr. Murdstone; his formidable aunt, Betsey Trotwood; the eternally humble yet treacherous Uriah Heep; frivolous, enchanting Dora; and the magnificently impecunious Micawber, one of literature’s great comic creations. In David Copperfield—the novel he described as his “favorite child”—Dickens drew revealingly on his own experiences to create one of his most exuberant and enduringly popular works, filled with tragedy and comedy in equal measure."

My edition is 882 pages. It's the one pictured above. Will I succeed? Who knows? I will probably be posting my review tomorrow, but not because I read the book in one day. It actually took me about a week. (Yes, I've already read it, but I'm not posting this until today). Sorry if that's confusing. I'll let my lovely readers figure out how this is possible themselves. ;) I have confidence in you.

    1. I was going to read The Origin of Species next, but I'm moving Don Quixiote up to the top per your suggestion. :)

  3. WOW. Good luck! I don't know how you were able to read it so soon.
Btw to take off the white from the summary you go to html on your post, click control + F and find the words that say white. Delete those. It took me awhile to figure this out so just trying to pass along the info.
